Progress Update

It's been awhile since i gave a progress update - with a bunch of progress pics - so here it is! You'll see a lot of open walls where electrical work is being done and a few widened doorways as well as a good amount of construction accouterments and Jon popping in and out of the frame.

Permit Update

So, we finally settled on our permit solution.  No fun or funny story here.  We just bit the bullet and ended up getting a simple repair/replace permit.  our job is a little complicated in that we are doing extensive revisions, but we aren't moving any mechanicals, or adding any plumbing - we are really just updating the existing.  BUT we are updating ALL the existing, which is a big job.  There was some initial debate if we would need a full permit because it is such a big job, even though the actual work falls within the standards of a repair/replace permit.

In the end, we went with the simpler permit.  I finally picked it up last week and taped it to the front window.  It's official, our project is official.

Period Inspiration

Jon and i discovered the Cinemax show The Knick a short while ago when HBO was streaming the first season for free.  Recently comcast gave a free week to binge on the second season, without adding a subscription to the channel.  it did not disappoint.

update: Under Contract

well, that was super fast.  we put our place on the market on a wednesday. and had a signed contract the following friday.  I'm still knocking on wood about it, after the crazy times we've had buying a place, ( cough cough winnemac cough) we know that a deal isn't done until keys and money have changed hands, so i'm not exactly counting my chickens yet.  HOWEVER, it feels really good to not have to keep our apartment spotlessly clean anymore!

Our place proved VERY popular.  It was #winning all the online real estate sites, garnering a favorable number of views and saves on Zillow and earning a "Hot Home" designation from Redfin.
